Evia Island Ports Authority (OLNE S.A.) kindly informs users (pedestrians, drivers, sailors) that from 01.10.2014 till December 2014 the Old Bridge of Chalkis will stop its operation due to maintenance.
For the convenience of the pedestrians a footbridge will be installed. Cyclists can also use the same footbridge as pedestrians with the engine turned off.
The footbridge is a construction that cannot open to be used by vessels. The safety air draft bellow the bridge varies depending on the tide, and those users with small boats wishing to cross under must contact the Port Police before. OLNE does not recommend the sea crossing for safety reasons due to the works to be performed.
OLNE has already informed authorities for the shutdown of the bridge.
